An Australian building company has been appointed to construct the Billion dollar Jewel project, creating up to 2,700 jobs for Australians.

Developer, The Wanda Ridong Development Company, has given Brookfield Multiplex to construct to build “Jewel” which features 3 Mega-Towers on absolute beach front land at Surfers Paradise.

Brookfield Multiplex Regional Managing Director for Queensland Rod McDonald said “the company was thrilled to be delivering a project such as Jewel, which will see a significant injection of jobs on the Gold Coast”.

“Jewel will transform the skyline and beach front of the Gold Coast and deliver a welcome boost for the local economy,” Mr. McDonald said. “At its peak, we expect the project to deliver a workforce of between 900 to 1000 construction workers, together supporting an indirect workforce of about 2,700 people.”

Mr. McDonald said the company would begin construction in March, after the completion of site works earlier this month.

Jewel’s 3 Towers will stand on a 1.14 hectare site and will be the largest beachfront mixed use development in Australia and the first absolute beachfront development on the Gold Coast in thirty years.
